I researched which laptop to purchase for a good 6 months and I was deciding between an acer or asus. I do have an acer tablet and my sibling has an asus tablet so I knew which ever one I choose it would be a great product. At the last minute I decided to purchase an asus, I felt more comfortable knowing that asus has a great customer care service. I did purchase this product elsewhere as they had a better deal at the time. The laptop is thin and feels sturdy, looks amazing out the box. The laptop is listed at 4.6lbs, actually holding it I wasn't expecting it to be this heavy. The touchscreen response is great and makes windows 8 easier to use. I've read a few comments where people complained about the key board where the space buttons response isn't great but so far I've had no issue. I use the laptop mostly for streaming videos, school work and surfing web. When I stream videos it does drain the battery pretty quickly. Im still learning about shortcuts on the keyboard but overall Im happy with my purchase. This laptop is great, if your looking for a touchscreen laptop and don't want to spend a lot this is it.

I bought this to explore Windows 8 prior to upgrading my other systems. I am still learning, but I really like the seamless interface between the machine and the Internet. There is no switching from one to the other... Windows 8 was truly designed as an Internet operating system. ASUS is a great reputable brand. It has the power necessary and the touch screen is everything it claims to be.

Can't say much more about this computer than has been said already. I used an awesome youtube review ([...]) in my decision to buy this one and I would suggest checking it out for pros and cons.

I am really just writing this review to mention an issue that other will have. This computer has a fairly wide bezel (the edge area around the screen). Therefore, it doesn't fit into every case made for 11.6in laptops, especially ones for a Macbook air. You may do better looking for a 12-13in case if you're having trouble fitting it in. I will be using a 13.3in case to avoid scratching my new comp. Just a tip... hope it helps.

I buy lots of computers because I teach and use technical innovation whenever I can. I bought this thinking it was an inexpensive backup that I could use. I don't write many reviews, but I am writing this because this is literally a piece of junk. ASUS makes good stuff, but they should not sell something regardless of price point if it is useless. I don't even use it. The track pad is the worst I have ever seen and that is saying something. Every time I touch it two or three windows open. The screen is barely above wretched, the battery lasts about 90 minutes and the cursor is hard to control. The machine freezes every five minutes or so and then you have tow wait about 2 minutes for it to unfreeze. You may think I am making this up but I am not. It is a piece of junk-avoid it like the plague.

I bought this laptop at Best Buy for around the same price that it is available Amazon. It works perfectly for many things. i personally manage music, play music, browse the web constantly, watch HD YouTube videos, etc. I even game on this laptop! It has no problem running Minecraft and runs L4D2 exceptionally well. Windows 8 is a beast of its own and I feel that it should have its own review. Anyone who docks stars off of this laptop because of Windows 8 isn't seeing what a great laptop it is. Luckily, I really like and enjoy Windows 8! Make sure that you do enough research on Windows 8 and see if you don't mind the new features and looks. It honestly is not as big of a learning curve as everyone puts it out to be. the one and only thing that I can say that is bad about this laptop though is the battery life. It will last you about 2-3 hrs on average. i usually use balanced system performance and those are the hrs i get from that. If you use battery saver you will probably get an extra 30 mins or so. So if you're a person who is going to take their laptop everywhere I would take the battery life into consideration. Maybe even purchasing another one would be good too. Ultimately, I would highly recommend this computer to someone who wants to get a nice, low costing laptop.

My mom bought me this laptop for graduation, I've been using it for 3months now and I love it. I hated it at first because I hate windows 8. I think it's very inefficient, however this was my first intro to the program and this laptop does not have touch screen which would probably make windows 8 a better experience. All in all, This laptop has grown on me. I just avoid the windows 8 aspect of it, I navigate via the desktop screen.
It also has a multi-touch cursor pad which I LOVE!

So I open up the box to find my new wonderful laptop waiting for me. It was well laid out and I love the look and feel of this laptop. It feel solid and the keys are easy to type one. I am working on an 18 page paper for a class and needed to get a new laptop asap. The only real negative I found with this laptop was that when I booted it up I looked at how many tasks were running and almost fell down. It had over 130 tasks running right after boot up. This was nothing to shocking I expected a cretin level of bloat ware but that is a bit interesting. I did a fresh install of windows and now its at a smooth 80 processes. It still a little big for me but i was happy with that. The speed on this laptop is nice. I have been doing some Photoshop and FL Studio and it has been working great. The touch pad will take some getting use to due to its size and sensitivity makes it kind of hard to use. I keep touching it while I am typing and I have found I just turn it off when I type. I have many pcs in the past 17 years and most have been amd and I must say this is the coolest temperature laptop i have had in a long time. All in all I think I am going to order one for my wife due to the ease of use and just how nice it is.

Have had this for about a month now and it has been performing perfectly. I read a lot of reviews about this machine before purchasing and was a little worried about some of the reaccuring problems people seemed to have. I don't know if Asus fixed those issues on this latest model or if it was just bugs in windows 8 and windows 8 drivers. I have had no issues with the wifi card dropping connection, no sound issues, The mouse is large and could pose a problem with accidental clicking, however i just turned off the tap to click feature and have had no problems. using the bottom left and right corners for clicking is responsive and works just fine. I do, however, mostly use an external mouse. So far I have had no issues with this laptop, and it is a well designed, solid machine. The backlit asus logo on the lid is a nice touch (much like the apple logo on mac books), backlit keyboard has 3 levels of brightness which is very helpful for managing power use vs. visibiltiy and the screen is simply amazing. the only downside so far is the slow 5400 rpm harddrive. size is nice but the speed is slow. I will most likely put an SSD in here, which will also help extend the battery life.

My son really loved this laptop. It was big and heavy but quite powerful. He could play his games without problems. However after 2 weeks it suddenly wouldn't boot. I tried booting from a repair CD, from a USB stick with linux. I kept getting boot sequence error. Asus support said it was hardware fault and sent me a mailing label. However, I decided to return it to Amazon and buy a different laptop. Maybe it was just a fluke, but it shouldn't happen.

I bought this laptop with Ubuntu pre installed and it was the best decision that I have made as far as laptops go. Currently I am at LSU for business and this is perfect for college and traveling. It fits right into my back pack. The only thing that was scary was the touch(mouse) pad. I had to break in the right and left click function parts but once I used them about 20 times each the pad worked perfectly. I do recommend this laptop with the Ubuntu OS installed.

I ordered this for my son for school. As I was explaining all the rules to him for using internet, it was already here. It is light and small enough for him to put in his backpack to take with him if he needs it.

He loves the webcam it has so he can talk to his friends online and the sleek look.

This is the worst laptop I know, I feel not comfortable with this laptop and refund it mediately. I picked up ASUS K55N-DB81 as well later. Its not as good as I expected. I have the same problem as another customer where the spacebar doesn't register sometimes. The battery life isn't very long so it has to stay plugged in for most of the time. The Startup is also a little slow. So overall rating, not impressed. Gonna return It and buy a different computer.

I ordered a new laptop, but they sent me a refurbished laptop with pre-used problems. The space bar had to be pressed hard on the right side to work and on the second day I had it, the mouse wouldn't move and the screen would freeze up repeatedly! I had to turn it off then back on to make it work, but it would eventually happen again. Lastly, it kept overheating to the point where I thought it was going to catch fire. This laptop was horrible! I would not recommend this to anyone!
